TBI One Love Survivor Ashley Mullins

Hi there my name is Ashley Mullins I am from Canada Alberta. I want to share my story with you all!🤗 I was born with acavernous malformation. My first brain surgery was when I was 13 months old. It was a 12 hour surgery and I only had a 20% chance of surviving. But I came out of it and grew up a healthy and happy girl. I played every sport you can imagine I did hip-hop dance And modeling. When I was 12 years old, I was doing a modeling shoot and my mom noticed I was very weak, off-balance, and my left eye was almost shut. I went in for an MRI, and sure enough I had haemorrhaged in my brain again. So I had to go in for another 12 hour surgery, they expected me to be in a coma for close to three weeks. But I woke up on the operating table! I had to go to rehabilitation for eight months to relearn how to walk and talk. Just as I was back to my “normal” self and getting ready to go back to school.

Once again I haemorrhaged in my brain, This time I had to go to Calgary because they have an operative MRI machine. When they were operating, they found two more haemorrhages that they wouldn’t have found without the operative MRI machine and I could’ve died. I remember when I woke up 12 hours later the doctors told me I would never walk or talk and I’d be in a wheelchair. Well, I guess I had other plans…😊 Today I’m 31 years old. I am walking I’m talking I’m getting married to love of my life in a couple months. I drive a car we have a puppy with our own house.

🙏🏼 My advice for all of the people who have any sort of disability - don’t ever give up! You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. You all are beautiful inside and out don’t ever change. Ashley Mullins ❤️
