Hello my name is Oriana.
On February 28th in 2011, I was on a mission in Afghanistan. A route I had done at least 50 times and as I was passing a local truck it got back on the road and I swerved to avoid hitting it. I was in a rollover at 65mph and I was not wearing my seatbelt. My head hit the metal radio mount in the truck and I lost consciousness.
By battle who is no longer with us because he took his life pulled me out of the truck and we waited for the helicopter to take me to the hospital in Kandahar. I have to work everyday to control impulses and make safe decisions. I will achieve and learn how to live with the new me. It has been a challenge, but I have made it work for five years and will continue to for as longs as it takes for my recovery.
